Chan Plett
Interdisciplinary conceptual artist
Chan Plett is an interdisciplinary conceptual artist that challenges conventions of video, sound, photography, and poetry. Their work has been published and exhibited across the US and west coast as books, zines, live installations, gallery shows, large format murals, and conceptual events. Their titles include two chapbooks (I'm Alone [2018], Leap Year [2022]), two poetry collections (Honey Surviving Oil [2016], Death Rattles [2021]), two experimental LPs and video LPs under the monikers Chain Plate and Scuzz Nun (There's Noise Music In Hell [2020], Four Vows [2022]). Plett is an LA-born, Seattle-based non-binary individual with an emphasis on experimental, avant garde works that exist outside the hegemonic structures of the mainstream art world. Their works reimagine how art can be consumed and experienced in everyday life and the micro moments that humans find themselves looking for something to hold onto and connect to. Their themes center around experiences and emotions rather than storytelling, putting the onus on the viewer to interpret the meaning and purpose without forcing a single narrative.
